Governor Umar Bago of Niger State has approved the nomination of six commissioners-designate and the appointment of other political appointees in the state.

The governor said the nominees are subject to confirmation by the Niger State House of Assembly.

A statement on Monday by Abubakar Kuta, spokesman for the Secretary to the State Government, said Mr Bago also appointed political advisers.

The commissioners-designate are Lucky Barau of Gurara Local Government Area; Isah Wakili of Bosso LGA; Isah Adamu of Kontagora LGA; Emmanuel Alamu of Magama LGA; Shuaibu Saidu Kaboji of Mashegu LGA and Mohammed Danladi Garba of Borgu LGA.

Other political advisers appointed include Nma Kolo as chief political adviser, while Yahaya Emilugi, Yusuf Tagwai and Salman Yusuf were appointed special advisers on political matters for Zones A, B and C, respectively.

Mr Kuta said the appointments were part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery and ensure broader representation across the state.

“The governor congratulated the appointees and urged them to apply their experience and commitment to the development of Niger State,” he said.

He added that the commissioners-designate are expected to appear before the House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in line with the law.
