Gov. Buni appoints new Emir of Ngazargamu
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the appointment of Yerima Ibn-Mahmud as the new Emir of Ngazargamu.
This is contained in a statement by the Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Mohammed Goje, on Friday in Damaturu.
Mr Ibn-Mahmud will replace the late Emir of Ngazargamu, Tijjani Ibn-Saleh, who recently passed away in Egypt after a protracted illness.
Mr Goje said the new Emir of Ngazargamu, until his appointment, was the Turakin Ngazargamu, an office he held for 16 years.
He said, “He was also a member of the state House of Assembly. The new emir has at different times served as a member of the State Executive Council, and the state commissioner for Livestock Development before the new appointment.”
He said Mr Buni congratulated the new emir and urged him to use his wealth of experience to unite the people, promote peaceful co-existence and economic growth of the emirate, Yobe State and Nigeria.
“Similarly, the governor called on the people to support the new emir to execute the functions of his office diligently, effectively and efficiently for the benefit of the people, peace, unity and prosperity of the emirate,” Mr Goje said.
