Gov. Fintiri appoints four new emirs, chiefs

Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has announced the creation of new chiefdoms and Emirates for peace building in the state.
Mr Fintiri announced this at the end of year statewide broadcast in Yola on Monday.
Mt Fintiri said that the chiefdoms and emirates created include the Hoba Chiefdom with headquarters at Hong – 2nd-Class Status.
He listed others as “Madagali Chiefdom with headquarters at Gulak – 2nd-Class Status, Michika Chiefdom with headquarters at Michika – 2nd-Class Status, and Fufore Emirate with headquarters at Fufore – 2nd-Class Status.
The governor said that those with third class status include Gombi chiefdom with headquarters at Gombi.
Others, according to him, are Maiha Emirate with headquarters at Maiha and Yungur Chiefdom with headquarters at Dumne.
“We are conscious of the fact that the fundamental answers to the question of a genuine peaceful coexistence can best be found in addressing our diversity, our unity and satisfactorily managing our identity justice system.
“We have equally reappraised the value of our traditional institution and found it highly instrumental to peace building and a major partner in managing the ungoverned spaces in the state.
“Fellow citizens, it is against this background that we created more districts and enacted the legislation for the Adamawa state chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) Law 2024.
“Consequently, pursuant to Section 5, of the same Law, these Chiefdoms and Emirates were created,” he said.
Mr Fintiri said the creation had since been gazetted and had become part of a statutory repository.
