Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa inaugurated the newly constructed Juma’at Mosque at the Government House in Yola on Friday.

Speaking at the event, Mr Fintiri said the worship centre would serve Muslim faithful working in the government house and adjoining communities.

He commended individuals and groups that contributed to the facility’s construction and urged Muslims to invest more in Islamic activities.

The governor seized the opportunity to call on parents to ensure their children receive both Islamic and Western education.

“Education is essential to having responsible citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to societal development,” he said.

In his remarks, Abubakar Muktar of Yola Central Mosque emphasised the importance of unity among Muslims and urged the faithful to uphold Islamic virtues.

Mr Muktar lauded Mr Fintiri for constructing the Mosque within the government house, insisting that the move would promote unity among Muslims.

“Unity among Muslims will promote peaceful coexistence among people of different religions,” Mr Mukhtar said.

Earlier, Aminu Daurawa, the guest speaker at the event and commander of Hisbah in Kano State, also commended the governor for the gesture.

Mr Daurawa described Islam as a religion of peace, adding that it promotes mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence at all times.

He urged Muslims to invest in ventures that promote peace and unity, adding that constructing a Mosque for the people was significant.

Muhammad Albani was appointed Chief Imam of the Mosque.
