Gov. Idris approves N60 million for accreditation of programmes at health college

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi has approved N60 million for the accreditation of eight academic programmes at the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega.
The provost of the college, Hussaini Aliyu, said this while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
“The management of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega, has commended Governor Nasiru Idris for approving N60 million for the accreditation of eight academic programmes at the institution,” he said.
Mr Aliyu said the approval was in line with the governor’s commitment to revitalising tertiary education and promoting quality learning across the state.
He explained that the fund would facilitate the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation exercise, which was already in progress and nearing completion.
“Consequently, students affected by the suspension of academic activities on Oct. 17, 2024, will soon be recalled once the accreditation process is concluded.
“This will enable them to continue their studies and graduate with National Diploma (ND) qualifications,” he said.
The provost also said that the governor had approved the renovation of students’ hostels as part of the accreditation requirements to enhance the teaching, learning and research environment.
“The management of the college, in collaboration with the Governing Council and the Ministry for Higher Education, remains fully committed to the governor’s vision of educational transformation and institutional excellence.
“We deeply appreciate His Excellency’s continued support and commitment to repositioning the college as a centre of excellence in health education and technology,” Mr Aliyu said.
The provost reaffirmed the institution’s readiness to sustain high standards in academic delivery and professional training in the health sector.
