Gov Makinde appoints substantive principal officers for Ibadan poly after 21 years
The Oyo government has approved the appointment of substantive principal officers for The Polytechnic, Ibadan, ending about 21 years of staffers serving in acting capacity.
A statement on Wednesday by the commissioner for information, Dotun Oyelade, said that Governor Seyi Makinde approved confirmation of the officers to substantive positions.
The officers are Lasisi Taiwo Abideen as rector, Olajide Taiwo Sherifat as registrar, Adegbola Abiodun Kolawole as bursar and Osunrinade Olukunle Akinbola as librarian.
The commissioner for education, science and technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, said, “The exercise began with a public advertisement in national newspapers and was followed by interviews conducted by the institution’s governing council, chaired by Prof Lanre Nassar.”
According to Mr Olayiwola, the institution’s principal officers had served in acting capacities since 2005.
He congratulated the newly appointed officers and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through effective leadership and commitment to the growth of the institution.
The commissioner said that the appointments took effect from July 31, 2026, and would run for a single tenure of five years.
