Gov Makinde promises to keep respecting rule of law

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo assured on Monday in Ibadan that his administration would continue to uphold the rule of law and prioritise the independence of the judiciary.
Mr Makinde made the declaration at a special prayer session to flag off the state’s 2022/2023 legal year.
He stressed that his administration had never hidden its belief in the rule of law and would not deviate from the path of upholding fundamental rights and the independence of the judiciary and hinted that his government had also been fixing the infrastructure deficit in the judiciary.
The governor told the gathering that additional buildings were being constructed at the High Court Complex and the Customary Court of Appeal in Ibadan, adding that a ceremonial hall was also being constructed at the High Court premises.
Mr Makinde prayed to God to give the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the ability to excel in the discharge of duties of his office.
