Gov. Mutfwang reiterates commitment to sustainable development

Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting sustainable development in the state.

The governor said this when he visited Amina Mohammed, the UN Deputy Secretary General in New York.

This is contained in a statement by Gyang Bere, the governor’s director of press and public affairs (DOPPA), issued on Sunday in Jos.

The governor is part of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and presidential delegation to the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Mr Mutfwang, who expressed his unwavering commitment to sustainable development in Plateau, particularly in rural communities where majority of the people reside.

”I engaged the deputy secretary general to strengthen Plateau’s partnership with the UN.

”We want to leverage on our unique climatic advantage to attract global investors, so as to foster economic growth in our state

”As a strong advocate of good governance rooted in inclusivity, transparency and equity, Plateau is undergoing a strategic repositioning under my leadership, especially sustainable development.

”To build a legacy of trust, unity and hope, particularly for the most vulnerable populations in our state, my administration is implementing impactful projects designed to directly improve the lives of the people,” Mr Bere quoted the governor.

Mr Mutfwang, who said inclusive governance was critical toward achieving meaningful progress, urged citizens to actively participate in decision-making processes to ensure effective dividends of democracy.

”This suggests why our appointments are all-inclusive; this is to ensure that government policies are better communicated to the people,”

Mr Mutfwang, who promised to implement innovative and people-centred projects, commended Mohammed for championing inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Responding, the UN deputy secretary general, thanked Mr Mutfwang for the visit and reaffirmed her support for the government and people of Plateau.
