Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has presented a N200 billion supplementary budget to the Delta House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The proposal allocates N140.6 billion to recurrent expenditure and N59.4 billion to capital expenditure.

Speaker Dennis Guwor disclosed this on Tuesday in Asaba, the state capital, while reading the governor’s message during plenary.

Delta is currently implementing the 2025 Appropriation Act of N979.2 billion.

Mr Oborevwori said the supplementary budget would sustain the delivery of the state’s MORE/Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The need became necessary to address expenditures, bearing in mind that the 2025 budget runs till January 31, 2026,” he said.

He cited lump-sum pension payments to “ameliorate the plight of pensioners who served the state meritoriously.”

The governor also noted increased equity contributions to the state health insurance scheme due to rising enrolment.

Other pressures include higher debt service on foreign loans, increased allocations to local government revenue, and funding urgent community projects.

Mr Oborevwori said the revised 2025 budget stands at N1.179 trillion, comprising N489.4 billion in recurrent and N689.8 billion in capital expenditure.

The supplementary budget passed the first reading.
