Gov. Otu urges Cross River people to unite for sustainable development

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River has urged the people of the state to unite and support his administration in achieving sustainable development.
Mr Otu, who made the call at a solemn assembly in Calabar on Sunday, themed: “The Lord Reigns”, said his administration had put the state on a pedestal for stability and development.
He said the state government would implement more projects if stakeholders united in support of his policies and programmes.
“We can all see the achievements of our government in two years. It’s not by our making, it’s by the grace and guidance of God.
“What we need in the state is unity. Cross River will never remain the same if we unite in the interest of the state,” he said.
The governor said the time had come for Cross River to rise and shine, saying, “My administration has successfully repositioned the state for greatness”
Also speaking, the governor’s wife, Eyoanwan Otu, said the event was to remind Cross River people of the unchanging truth about God’s supremacy in human affairs.
“The world is facing difficult and uncertain seasons. Economic pressure, insecurity, unrest, immorality and natural disasters are everywhere.
“In the midst of these, we are here to remind ourselves of the powerful and unchanging truth that God reigns supreme,” she said.
The event featured song renditions, Bible readings, prayers, the distribution of Bibles and a sermon.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, clerics, and opinion leaders.
