Gov. Radda approves ₦372 million scholarship for 24,452 Katsina students

The Katsina State Scholarship Board has announced the approval of more than N372 million bursary allowances by Governor Dikko Radda, for 24,452 continuing students.
The board’s Executive Secretary, Dr Aminu Salisu-Tsauri, announced this in a statement in Katsina on Tuesday.
Mr Salisu-Tsauri stated the approval represented not only the governor’s passion for human capital development but also his steadfast belief that education remained the bedrock of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
He said, “Since the inception of this administration, the government has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment to student’s welfare, with bursary disbursements. The government had disbursed more than ₦637.9million to 47,935 students (2020/2021 fresh and 2021/2022 continuing students, while ₦544.2 million was also disbursed to 37,802 students (2021/2022 fresh and 2022/2023 continuing. The administration of Governor Radda had also disbursed more than ₦744.1 million to 50,438 students 2022/2023 fresh, and 2023/2024 continuing.
“In addition, students are joyfully informed that approvals will soon be granted for the 2024/2025 local scholarships for 12,609 fresh students, as well as the prestigious award of academic excellence and also special scholarship for students with special needs.”
Mr Salisu-Tsauri noted that the categories would be officially unveiled by the governor during the forthcoming inauguration.
According to him, with the interventions, the total number of beneficiaries is not at 174,461.
He said, “The scholarship board is making all necessary arrangements to ensure seamless and timely disbursement of the newly approved bursary funds. Beyond local support, Radda has lifted the state to the global stage by sponsoring students across the state to study abroad in highly specialised and competitive fields.”
