Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State has assented to the state’s N458 billion budget for the 2024 fiscal year, following its passage by the State House of Assembly.

While signing the budget into law, Mr Sani mentioned that N318.8 billion was allocated for capital expenditure, with N139.4 billion earmarked for recurrent expenditure.

He highlighted that these figures represented a capital-to-recurrent ratio of 69.57% to 30.43%.

The governor stated that the 2024 budget aimed to bring development closer to the people of Kaduna State, emphasising it as the “2024 Budget of Rural Transformation for Inclusive Development,” intended to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas.

Mr Sani expressed that the budget would revitalise the state’s rural economies, promote social inclusion, address infrastructure and human capital gaps, boost agriculture and food security, and ensure safety while securing citizens’ investments.

To achieve the objectives of the 2024 budget, the governor urged all government agencies and enterprises to improve their revenue generation efforts.

Mr Sani acknowledged the crucial role of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) in implementing the budget, emphasising the need to sustain the current momentum in revenue generation.

He extended appreciation to the Planning and Budget Commission and all involved in producing the 2024 Appropriation Bill.

Mr Sani called on citizens to support and cooperate as the implementation of the 2024 Budget begins, recognising the challenging times and expressing confidence in the resilience of the people of Kaduna State.

Mr Sani also thanked the State House of Assembly for the expeditious consideration and passage of the appropriation bill, describing their action as a testimony to their commitment to the progress and development of Kaduna State.

In his remarks, acting Speaker of the assembly, Henry Danjuma-Magaji, noted that they prioritised the speedy passage of the bill to enable the government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

He expressed confidence in the governor’s zeal and determination to fully implement the appropriation law.
