Gov Umahi dissolves Ebonyi commissions, boards
Governor David Umahi has ordered the immediate dissolution of the state’s boards, commissions, and development centres’ coordinators.
The dissolution was contained in a statement by Kenneth Ugbala, secretary to the state government, on Monday.
In the statement, the governor indicated that the governing council of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, was exempted from the dissolution.
“The development centre coordinators are to hand over all government property in their possession, including official vehicles, to the office of the SSG,” the statement said. “This should be on or before the close of work on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.”
It added, “Similarly, the boards and commissions are to hand over government property in their possession to their parent ministries on the same time and date.”
The Ebonyi government indicated it would constitute a transition committee to advise whether to reconstitute the boards, commissions and development centres’ coordinators.
“The committee shall also advise whether such should be left for the incoming administration. The government has noted members of boards, commissions and development centre coordinators who served very well in their various offices,” the statement said. “Such persons would be accommodated during the reconstitution.”
The governor directed the concerned officials to comply immediately with the directive.
