Gov. Yusuf backs Tinubu’s security emergency, vows action against bandits

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Thursday commended President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a national emergency on security, describing it as a necessary step to curb the rising tide of terrorist and bandit incursions across the country.
Speaking at the opening of the 34th Executive Council Meeting, Mr Yusuf assured that Kano State was taking all the necessary measures to confront banditry in the affected local government areas, particularly Shanono, Bagwai, and Tsanyawa, which border Katsina State.
He recalled that security forces had earlier repelled an attack in Shanono, neutralising 19 bandits and seizing weapons, but said criminal activities had resurfaced with the recent kidnapping of ten villagers.
Mr Yusuf reiterated Kano’s readiness to tackle the menace decisively, pledging to deploy all the required resources to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
