Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has sympathised with traders at the Singer Market following a recent fire outbreak that destroyed goods worth millions of naira.

This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, in Kano on Tuesday.

Mr Yusuf described the incident as “unfortunate and distressing” and assured the traders of government support.

He directed the authorities to intensify fire prevention measures and public enlightenment campaigns in markets and commercial centres.

Mr Yusuf said, “The government would explore ways to assist the affected traders, in collaboration with stakeholders, to cushion the impact of the losses.”

He urged the traders to adhere to safety guidelines, especially in handling electrical installations, to prevent the recurrence of such obnoxious incidents.
