Gov. Yusuf distributes 150 trucks of subsidised fertilisers to Kano farmers

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Thursday inaugurated the distribution of 150 trucks of subsidised fertilisers to farmers in the state.
The governor, during the event, announced the slashing of the fertiliser by 50 per cent.
According to him, a bag of fertiliser is sold for N50,000 but the government has resolved to distribute the commodity at a subsidised rate of N25,000 to the farmers.
He said agriculture is one of the sectors getting priority attention from the government to ensure a bumper harvest, enhance food security and reduce the cost of produce.
He said a committee has been constituted at state and local government levels to check diversion and ensure the intervention gets to main beneficiaries.
“We are distributing a total of 150 trucks, containing 90,000 bags of fertiliser, to the 44 local government areas that will also be distributed to 484 wards across the state.
“This translates to an average of three trucks per local government, with each ward having 70 beneficiaries.
“The purchase of this fertiliser is a joint venture between the Kano State government and the 44 local government councils,” Mr Yusuf said.
He urged distribution committee members to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity, integrity, and the fear of God.
He said the state also received 33 trucks of fertilisers from the federal government.
He expressed the government’s gratitude to the president for the intervention, which he described as timely.
