The president of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ike Neliaku, has lauded Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State for his commitment to people-oriented projects and inclusive governance.

This commendation followed an inspection visit by the NIPR governing council on Tuesday to assess Mr Yusuf’s suitability for investiture as a patron of the professional body, according to a statement by the governor’s chief press secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.

The NIPR delegation visited key project sites showcasing infrastructure renewal, community development, and economic empowerment, including the Dan Agundi Flyover and the Bulbula erosion control project.

Other areas inspected were Kwankwasiyya City Housing Estate, Gwarzo Garment Centre vocational training facility, and Challawa/Goje Dama 6-megawatt power plant.

Mr Neliaku expressed satisfaction with the project’s pace and quality, stating that the initiatives transcended physical infrastructure and emphasised social inclusion and community ownership, aligning with public relations’ core principles of building mutually beneficial relationships.

“We are impressed by Governor Yusuf’s dedication to projects impacting citizens, making them active participants in progress,” Mr Neliaku stated.

NIPR would consider the inspection findings as the determining factor in Mr Yusuf’s formal investiture as the institute’s patron, recognising leaders who uphold transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.

The visit underscored NIPR’s commitment to recognising leaders promoting these values.
