Gov.Yusuf restates dedication to Kano’s growth, security

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has called on residents to maintain peace and uphold the values of tolerance and mutual respect during and after the Sallah festivities.
Mr Yusuf made the call on Sunday at the traditional Hawan Daushe in Kano, in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Ismail Falgore.
The governor described Hawan Sallah as a cherished cultural tradition reflecting the rich heritage and unity of the people of Kano.
He welcomed the Emir of Kano and his entourage to the event and commended residents for their continued support, cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
“I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to the good and peace-loving people of our dear state for their unwavering support, which remains a pillar of strength for this administration,” he said.
Mr Yusuf urged the citizens to avoid actions capable of threatening the peace and stability of the state, stressing the need to sustain harmony regardless of differences.
He also called on parents and guardians to guide their children and wards to be law-abiding and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the celebration period.
The governor assured residents of the government’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, noting that adequate security measures had been put in place across the state.
He added that his administration would continue to prioritise social development and the provision of critical infrastructure for the benefit of the people.
Mr Yusuf further urged residents to pray for the peace, unity and progress of the state and the country at large.
Earlier, the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, urged residents to sustain the teachings of Ramadan.
He commended the state government for allocating 30 per cent of the budget to education, describing it as a strategic investment in the future.
Mr Sanusi also praised the governor’s scholarship initiatives and stressed the importance of education in tackling ignorance and social vices.
He further highlighted the need for youth empowerment, sustained development efforts and the promotion of responsible, people-oriented politics.
The emir also lauded the speaker for maintaining a cordial working relationship with the state executive. (NAN)
