Gov Zulum calls for special prayers to end Boko Haram insurgency

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has called on both Muslims and Christians to dedicate their respective fasts to prayers for peace in the state and Nigeria at large.
Mr Zulum, in a statement by his special adviser on media, Dauda Iliya, urged both Christians and Muslims to intensify prayers for the state and Nigeria.
“As we usher in the last 10 days of the Holy month of Ramadan, let’s intensify prayers to Almighty Allah and beseech Him, through all other acts of worship, to attract His mercies, blessings, and rewards,” Mr Zulum said.
Against the backdrop of waves of attacks carried out across Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists, Mr Zulum said he is dedicating his pilgrimage to the Holy Land to intensive prayers to end the Boko Haram insurgency.
“This is a month of prayers and supplications. Let us all renew our faith in the wake of the recent attacks on our communities. I will also participate in special prayers with fellow Muslims in the Holy Land for an end to this protracted conflict,” Mr Zulum said.
He added, “I also want to call on the Christian community, who are also observing Lent, to join in the special prayers.”
The Borno governor described the recent wave of attacks by terrorists as “a temporary eclipse; we shall emerge victorious insha Allah.”
In recent weeks, Boko Haram terrorists have intensified attacks across Borno State, killing and abducting people.
In the past few days, terrorists have attacked Ngoshe, Konduga, Mainok, Kukawa, Goniri, and Delwa areas of Borno State, raiding military bases and killing scores of both security agents and civilians.
