Governor Diri to depose traditional rulers engaging in politics

Governor Douye Diri has vowed to depose any traditional ruler in Bayelsa who allows politicians to intimidate voters during the February and March general elections.
He stated this in Yenagoa, on Monday, during the flag-off of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for the Bayelsa Central senatorial district.
He urged the Bayelsa electorate to support all the PDP candidates during the election to pave the way for the party to correct the economic woes perpetrated in the country.
He assured the people that the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has what it takes to reposition the country.
He said, “As for traditional rulers, anyone who allows politicians to deprive other people of exercising their civic right would be dealt with. Traditional rulers should desist from partisan politics, and youth should not allow themselves to be used as an instrument of violence,” Mr Diri stated. “Our party will continue to bring development, infrastructures, and human capital development in our dear state. I, therefore, urge you to give your mandate to PDP for more dividends of democracy.”
PDP chair in Bayelsa, Solomon Agwanana, said the party’s strength is in the hands of every Bayelsans who support the achievements of Mr Diri.
He urged the party supporters not to give opposition parties a chance to win the general election in Bayelsa.
