Governor Namadi spends ₦172 million to send one Jigawa indigene to Russia for capacity building

State Executive Council Approves ₦1 Billion Recapitalisation of Jigawa State Savings and Loans Limited
The State Executive Council, at its first meeting held on Wednesday 21st January, 2026, approved the sum of One Billion Naira (₦1,000,000,000.00) only for the recapitalisation of Jigawa State Savings and Loans Limited.
The approval is aimed at strengthening the financial position of the institution and enabling it to meet the minimum capital requirement prescribed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for Primary Mortgage Banks, in line with mandatory regulatory standards for continued operations.
The recapitalisation underscores the commitment of the Jigawa State Government to ensuring the sustainability of state-owned financial institutions, safeguarding depositors’ funds, and enhancing access to affordable mortgage and housing finance for the people of Jigawa State.
Council noted that compliance with the CBN’s regulatory framework is critical to the continued operation of Jigawa State Savings and Loans Limited and its capacity to effectively contribute to housing development, financial inclusion, and economic growth within the state.
The Executive Council reaffirmed its resolve to promote prudent financial management, institutional reform, and regulatory compliance across all state-owned enterprises to ensure efficiency, transparency, and long-term viability. The Jigawa State Government remains committed to policies and interventions that support economic development and improve the welfare of its citizens.
State Executive Council Approves Jigawa–Russia Agricultural Capacity Cooperation Programme 2026/2027
The Council approved the sum of One Hundred and Seventy-Two Million, Five Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand Naira (₦172,300,000.00) only for the sponsorship of an indigenous Jigawa State candidate under the Jigawa–Russia Agricultural Capacity Cooperation Programme.
The approval forms part of the State Government’s strategic investment in human capital development, particularly in the agricultural sector, in line with the development agenda of His Excellency’s administration.
The programme is designed to build critical capacity for agricultural transformation by providing advanced training across various academic disciplines at Master’s and PhD levels. It is expected to equip beneficiaries with modern knowledge, research skills, and global best practices that will significantly contribute to agricultural development, innovation, and food security in Jigawa State.
Council noted that agriculture remains a key driver of the state’s economy, and investing in advanced education and research is essential for achieving sustainable growth, improved productivity, and value-chain development.
The Executive Council reaffirmed its commitment to policies and programmes that promote skills development, innovation, and international cooperation as tools for accelerating socio-economic development in Jigawa State. The Jigawa State Government remains resolute in its efforts to build a skilled workforce capable of driving agricultural transformation and supporting long-term economic prosperity.
