Governor Radda mourns late FEDECO executive secretary Ahmadu Kurfi

Governor Dikko Radda has expressed deep condolences on the death of Ahmadu Kurfi, the district head of Kurfi.
He died on Thursday. Mr Kurfi was 93 years old.
Mr Radda, in a statement by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Kaula-Mohammed, described Mr Kurfi as a quintessential Nigerian public servant who dedicated his life to national service and democratic development.
The governor said that the deceased’s contributions to Nigeria’s public service were extraordinary and spanned several critical periods in the nation’s political history.
As a senior civil servant at the federal level, Mr Kurfi held pivotal positions that were instrumental during significant national transitions, including serving as deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Defence during the tumultuous period of the 1966 coup and later as permanent secretary in the office of the head of service.
The governor noted that the deceased made an indelible mark on Nigeria’s democratic journey as the first executive secretary of the now-defunct Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO).
“In this crucial role, he was responsible for organising the historic transition to civilian rule in 1979, a process that culminated in the election of Shehu Shagari as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Ahmadu Kurfi represents a generation of public servants who served Nigeria with unalloyed dedication, integrity, and profound commitment to national development,” Mr Radda stated.
He revealed that his legacies were a testament to the critical role of committed civil servants in shaping the nation’s democratic institutions.
The governor extended heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumin Kabir-Usman, the deceased family, the people of Kurfi District, and the entire Katsina State.
Mr Kurfi’s funeral rites will be conducted by 2:00 p.m. in his hometown, Kurfi.
