Governor Uba Sani is in Beijing, China, to finalise agreements on a $200 million Model Integrated Poultry Development Project. It is a flagship initiative expected to generate about 350,000 direct and indirect jobs and boost Kaduna’s economy by over $450 million annually.

A statement by the information commissioner, Ahmed Maiyaki, on Saturday, said the mission followed earlier high-level engagements in Abuja with the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai.

Mr Sani is on a trip with a federal government delegation led by the director-general of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, Joseph Tegba, underscoring the national importance of the project.

According to Mr Maiyaki, the poultry initiative is designed to strengthen food security, accelerate agro-industrialisation, expand exports, and position Kaduna as a major hub for modern agribusiness.

While in Beijing, Mr Sani is expected to meet with China Communications Construction Company and other strategic partners to consolidate investment pledges and advance technical cooperation.

Mr Maiyaki described the governor’s mission as a demonstration of Kaduna’s commitment to strategic international partnerships that drive inclusive and transformative economic growth.

He added that the administration remained focused on attracting world-class investments that would expand opportunities for the state’s young population.

Mr Sani also conveyed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for selecting Kaduna as the pilot location for the landmark poultry programme.

“Same commendation goes to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its continued support,” said the statement.
