Governor Uba Sani has been working to enhance transparency in land allocation, enforce development control regulations, and promote orderly urban expansion.

The governor also said that Kaduna government was investing in infrastructure and urban renewal initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for his citizens.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, he made this known when the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners paid a courtesy call to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.

According to him, the Kaduna government has been making deliberate efforts to strengthen urban planning and land administration systems through ongoing reforms.

‘’However, we recognise that government cannot do this alone. We need the expertise, guidance, and partnership of professional bodies such as yours. Your role in ensuring adherence to standards, building capacity, and promoting innovation in planning practice is vital to achieving sustainable development outcomes,’’ he added.

The governor noted that his administration has continued to show commitment to both rural and urban development, adding that “an ambitious development plan with massive infrastructural development has taken center stage”.

“We hope that members of this Institute will continue to offer expert advisory and technical services on how land use impact on social and economic development,’’ he pleaded.

The Kaduna governor recalled the long history of collaboration and engagement between the institute and Kaduna state.

“Our state has had a development plan since 1913 with master plans prepared and Spatial Development Framework and an Infrastructure master plan. This historical context indicates NITP’s deep rooted commitment to ensuring our states growth in an orderly fashion,’’ he noted.

The governor told the NITP delegation that that Kaduna state has been chosen ‘’as one of the pioneering states selected by the World Bank Group to drive Nigerian Land Titling, Registration and Documentation Program.

“In this vein, penultimate week a team from the World Bank and Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development visited to review the State’s land administration and governance,’’ he recalled.

The governor told the NITP delegation led by the vice-president, Prof Kingsley Ogboli and members of the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria, that their visit “provides an opportunity for us to align our priorities and explore practical pathways for collaboration”.

“Kaduna state remains open and committed to working with your institutions to build cities and communities that are not only well-planned, but also inclusive, safe, and economically vibrant,’’ he added.
