Governor Tambuwal inaugurates Almajiri Education Model

Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Sunday assented to two executive bills and inaugurated the Almajiri Nizzamiyah Education Model (ALNIZAMO).
The two bills are that of the Zakkat and Waqf (Endowment) Commission and the Arabic and Islamic Education Commission.
In his address, Mr Tambuwal stated that the Sokoto government was not eradicating the almajiri system of education but turning it into a model system.
“The system we are presently implementing is the one that is more acceptable in the world. This system will enhance the living standard of our children and improve their educational capacity toward a greater society,” he said.
Mr Tambuwal praised the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III and the committee members who worked tirelessly to ensure its success.
The sultan urged the government to prioritise teaching children in their mother tongue.
“Doing so will give room for proper understanding of what the children are expected to learn toward attaining a greater future,” said Mr Abubakar.
