Governor Yahaya sacks all commissioners ahead of 2027 elections

Governor Inuwa Yahaya has dissolved the State Executive Council ahead of the 2027 elections.
Secretary to the state government, Abubakar Njodi, announced this in Gombe on Wednesday after the council’s 53rd meeting chaired by Mr Yahaya.
Mr Njodi said the immediate dissolution would enable former members wishing to contest elective positions to prepare adequately for the polls.
He directed all commissioners to hand over their ministries’ affairs to permanent secretaries without delay.
Mr Njodi added that all political appointees with electoral ambitions must resign their positions on or before Friday.
“Governor Yahaya has today approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council. Consequently, all commissioners must hand over their ministries to permanent secretaries by Friday.
“Government appointees intending to contest in the 2027 general elections must resign their appointments on or before Friday,” he added.
Mr Njodi said the governor thanked council members for their service and wished them success in their future ambitions.
