Grammys 2026: Trump to sue Trevor Noah over Epstein comments

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to sue comedian Trevor Noah after his monologue during the 68th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday.
Mr Noah, hosting the Grammys for the sixth and final time, had joked after Billie Eilish won ‘Song of the Year’.
He said, “Congratulations, Billie Eilish. Wow. That’s a Grammy that every artist wants, almost as much as Trump wants Greenland. Which makes sense because, since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
The U.S. president responded via his Truth Social, “I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused being there, not even by the Fake News Media.”
“Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$. Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you,” he added.
Mr Trump stated that Noah “is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards”. In 2024, he criticised Mr Kimmel for roasting him at the Academy Awards, calling him “a worse host” on social media.
Mr Trump and U.S. child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein reportedly stopped being on good terms in 2007, and Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort said it barred Epstein in 2007.
In 2025, Mr Trump said the ban came after Mr Epstein was stealing from “people who worked for me”.
Mr Noah’s Grammy jokes also targeted American artiste Nicki Minaj, who has been publicly supportive of Trump.
