Despite winning the Grammys, Nigerian music superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, aka Wizkid, says he, Davido, and Burna Boy are “scratching the surface” even at the peak of their career.

In an interview with ARISE TV, the Grammy award winner urged upcoming Nigerian artistes to take the country’s music industry to a higher level.

Wizkid said, “Nothing is impossible. You know you can really take it above and beyond. We are just scratching the surface; me, Burna, and David. Like the next generation will take it to the next level.”

He added, “Stay inspiring the young people, stay showing them that everything is possible by doing what you have to do.”

Last March, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the WTO director-general, praised Nigeria’s Afrobeats stars Burna Boy and Wizkid for winning awards at the 2021 Grammy.

Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, won the Best Global Music Album category with his ‘Twice as Tall,’ while Wizkid won the Best Video for his song with Beyonce.

The WTO boss described the Nigerian entertainment industry as a vibrant services sector embodied by artists, writers, musicians, actors, and filmmakers.

“Recently, Nigeria’s Burna Boy and Wizkid won the grammy award for their music, and I will like to congratulate and applaud them because they were an example of services we can export.

“We are exporting so much of our creative arts abroad, and this seems to be encouraged,” she said.
