Groom, bride in Philippines wed in flooded church
Holding a bouquet, Leian Lieza Galang defied the weather and waded through the deep, murky waters that flooded her church to marry Gilbert Chico in the Philippines.
The couple refused all entreaties to postpone their wedding because of monsoon-triggered flooding inside Saint John the Baptist Church in Hagonoy town, Manila.
The wedding photographer, Mikko Rey Alfonso, said the couple declined to postpone the wedding despite the parish’s advice.
For the Chicos, not even the rising floodwaters that partially covered the parish for nearly one month could stop them from taking their marital vows.
About 15 people attended the ceremony.
The wedding was originally scheduled for December, but after the bridegroom injured his ankle while playing basketball and had to go home to recover, the couple decided to move the date back.
