A coalition of Southern and Northern Organisations for Peace on Thursday staged a ‘National Peace Walk’ and thereafter advised the All Progressives Congress to zone the position of the President of the Senate to South-East.

They said this would ensure equity, fairness and peace in the Nigerian project and kill allegations of marginalisation of Igbos.

Chukwuemeka Uzoka, the group’s scribe, released a statement detailing the call on Thursday.

Mr Uzoka, in the statement, said the Convener of Northern Leaders group, Dr Ahmed Ahmed, spoke on the need for the in-coming administration to zone the position to the South-East to give a sense of inclusion to the Nigerian project.

The group began its walk from Abuja Fountain Garden and walked through Wuse 2 to the APC national secretariat.

Mr Ahmed stated that the group handed over the “Peace Note” to the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, on the need for equity, fairness and peace as a way of consolidating the nation’s democratic process.

Also, the Co-convener of the Peace Walk and Secretary of the coalition, Uzoka Chukwuemeka, stressed that zoning the senate president position to the South-East would kill all allegations of exclusion by the zone.

The Nigeria 10th Senate would be inaugurated next month. Several interest groups have been agitating to clinch the Number 3 job in the country.
