Gunmen demand N80 million ransom for kidnapped Nasarawa undergraduates

The students were kidnapped from their off-campus residence in Angwan Kare area of Keffi town at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

The gunmen who kidnapped four female students of Nasarawa State University Keffi, (NSUK), have demanded up to N80 million ransom before setting them free.

Peoples Gazette had reported the abduction of the students, Rahila Hanya, SLT; Josephine Gershon, computer science; Rosemary Samuel, business administration; and Goodness Samuel, geography.

The students were kidnapped from their off-campus residence in Angwan Kare area of Keffi town at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

The police in Nasarawa confirmed the abduction on Tuesday, adding that a manhunt for the kidnappers was underway.

Senator Julius James, an official of the institution’s student union, also confirmed the incident, saying “the security agencies are working tirelessly to see these students released from their captivity. We pray they will be released soon.”

However, Leadership Newspaper reports that a source in the institution disclosed on Thursday, that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom before they release their victims.

The Gazette has asked the police for comments on ransom discussions with the abductors.
