Gunmen on Tuesday killed five people after invading a supermarket at One Man Village, Nasarawa State.

A resident of the area, identified only as Adamu, confirmed the incident to Peoples Gazette.

“The incident happened between 6 and 7pm on Tuesday. One Central Bank of Nigeria employee entered the supermarket market. The gunmen followed him and they killed five persons in Abdullahi Supermarket,’’ Mr Adamu said.

Contacted, the state police spokesperson, Abdulrahman Nansel, said the incident happened on Tuesday.

He said, “The incident happened yesterday around 8:45pm. Some hoodlums numbering up to four attacked a supermarket. Four people were confirmed dead. Their bodies were recovered and deposited at the morgue. Investigation has commenced.”

Asked if it was true that the attackers came after a CBN employee, Mr Nansel said a CBN official was among the victims, noting that the police cannot preempt investigation.

“A CBN employee and a judiciary staff member were among the victims. We cannot preempt the outcome of the investigation. For now, we cannot say what really happened,” Mr Nansel said.
