Gunmen kidnap female passengers, leave men behind

On Tuesday, unknown gunmen abducted some female passengers along the Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan Road, leaving behind male occupants of the travel bus after robbing them.
The Ibadan-bound was travelling from far away Cross-River State.
A twitter user, simply identified as Oluwayemlex raised the alarm of the incident on social media, noting that his fiancee, Precious Patrick Ibor, was among the highway kidnap victims.
He said he became really scared when his fiancee stopped picking her calls. He however said he had reported to the Cross-Country terminal in Ibadan to know what had gone wrong.
“My fiance, Precious Patrick Ibor was in transit from Calabar to Ibadan with a CROSS-COUNTRY transport company. I last spoke to her at exactly 7:37p.m. when she told me she was at ijebu ode heading to Ibadan.
“After waiting for at least 3hrs coupled with simultaneous unanswered calls through to her, I then decided to visit CROSS-COUNTRY terminal at Ibadan where I got the shocking news of my life that their bus alongside two other buses had been attacked by gunmen being beaten up and robbed of their belongings, while the females were carted into the forest,” he narrated.
However, a staff of the Cross Country Transport Limited in Calabar, who simply identified himself as Seyi, told Peoples Gazette that the case has been reported to the police and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) in Ibadan.
“We are trying our best to work with the law enforcement agency, because there is no way we can negotiate with the gunmen or secure the release of our passengers alone,” he said.
He added that the gunmen had robbed only the men in the three vehicles they attacked on the road and collected their money and other expensive valuables, “after which they went away with all female passengers”.
Fadeyi Olugbenga, the Public Relations Officer of Oyo Police, said the tactical team of the police was working on clamping down the perpetrators of the kidnapping with a view to arrest them and release the abductees.
