Gunmen kidnap prospective corps member on way to camp, demand N20 million ransom

A prospective corps member, Omoniyi Oluwaferanmi, was reportedly kidnapped on the Kabba Road in Kogi State while travelling to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp in Abuja.
Tobilola Kanmi, a colleague of the victim, posted on his X page that Mr Oluwaferanmi, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology (FUTA), was abducted on Thursday. He said the abductors are demanding N20 million ransom.
“My photographer friend, one of us @Mr_reguard, was abducted days on his way to camp @officialnyscng in Abuja,” Mr Kanmi wrote, just as he called the NYSC’s attention to the abduction.
The Twitter user, who shared a flier about the details of the 25-year-old photographer, sought financial assistance to secure his release.
When contacted by Peoples Gazette, Mr Kanmi said the abductors demanded the ransom using the victim’s mobile number.
“Feranmi is my close pal; the abductors called using his line,” the victim’s friend said.
The Gazette learnt that the kidnappers seized all the bus passengers and demanded N100 million ransom but later reduced it to N20 million.
Also, a social media user, Peter Adeyefa, posted the flier on his Instagram story and begged Nigerians to help secure Mr Oliwaferanmi’s release from kidnappers’ den.
When contacted, the state police spokesperson, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, told The Gazette that the command was unaware of the incident.
Also, the NYSC spokesperson, Eddy Megwa, did not immediately return request for comments about the incident.
