Haaland wins Premier League ‘Player of the Season’

Free-scoring Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has been voted the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Season following an impressive debut campaign in England.
“There could only be one name after a 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 debut season. @ErlingHaaland is the 2022/23 @premierleague Player of the Season,” the tweet announcing the result posted by the award sponsor EA Sports read.
Haaland has scored an incredible record-breaking 36 league goals in 35 games in the campaign so far to help Manchester City win their third consecutive Premier League title.
He broke the record for most strikes (34) in a single Premier League campaign previously held by former Manchester United striker Andy Cole and EPL’s all-time highest goalscorer Alan Shearer.
In the course of the season, the 22-year-old became the first player to score hat-tricks in three successive home matches, and the first Man City player to score a Manchester derby hat-trick since 1970.
The winner of the Premier League Player of the Season was determined by public vote combined with those of the 20 club captains and a panel of football experts.
