Hajj 2023: Gov Yusuf sacks pilgrims board, appoints new members

Governor Abba Yusuf has dissolved the Kano Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and appointed new members.
A statement issued on Tuesday in Kano by his chief press secretary Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa announced the sacking of the executive secretary of the board, Muhammad Danbatta, who was replaced with Laminu Rabiu.
Mr Yusuf also approved the sacking of the chairman of the board, Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, and the appointment of Yusuf Lawan as successor.
Another prominent board member sacked was Malama Nana Aisha, the daughter of the late Islamic cleric Sheikh Jafar Mahmud Adam.
The board’s new members are Sheikh Abbas Abubakar Daneji, Sheikh Shehi Maihula, Amb. Munir Lawan, Sheikh Isma’il Mangu, Aishatu Munir Matawalle and Sani Ashir.
According to the statement, the appointees are expected to take over the board’s affairs immediately to ensure a successful 2023 Hajj operation.
