Hakimi beats Osimhen, Salah to win African best player award; Nnadozie bags Goalkeeper of the Year for third time

Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi has won the CAF Men’s African Player of the Year, beating Victor Osimehn and Mohamed Salah to the prestigious continental award at a ceremony in the North African country on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old had an impressive campaign with his Paris Saint-Germain last season, winning several trophies, including the Ligue 1, UEFA Champions League and Coupe de France.
He also reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup with the club.
Morocco completed the double crown as Ghizlane Chebbak won the Women’s Player of the Year award following a successful campaign with both club and country.
She pipped her national team compatriot Sanaa Mssoudy and Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade to the award.
Meanwhile, Nigeria also managed to win some honours at the ceremony as Super Falcons were named the Women’s National Team of the Year while Chiamaka Nnadozie won the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, making it her third crown in succession.
In the other categories, Yassine Bounou was named the Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year; Cape Verde’s Bubista was voted the Men’s Coach of the Year, with DR Congo’s Fiston Mayele winning the Interclub Player of the Year.
Morocco clinched the Men’s National Team of the Year; Othmane Maamma was crowned the Men’s Young Player of the Year, while Doha El Madani was named the Women’s Young Player of the Year.
