Hamas releases three Israeli hostages amid ceasefire agreement

Palestinian armed group Hamas released three Israeli hostages to the Red Cross, the Israeli military confirmed on Sunday.
After about a three-hour delay on Sunday, both Israel and Hamas proceeded with a ceasefire agreement that would see them exchange prisoners and hostages, respectively.
Israeli hostages released by Hamas were Doron Steinbrecher, 31, British-Israeli Emily Damari, 28, and Romi Gonen, 24.
In return, Israel will free 95 Palestinian prisoners as part of the ceasefire agreement.
The ceasefire agreement brokered in Doha, Qatar, last week followed 15 months of hostility between Israel and Hamas.
Over 40,000 have been killed in the war that broke out after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing over 1,000 persons, injuring scores and taking 251 as hostages.
