Heads of Kano govt agencies endorse Gov. Yusuf’s second term

The Forum of Heads of Kano State Government Agencies has endorsed Governor Abba Yusuf’s bid for a second term, citing his capable and purposeful leadership of the state over the past two years of his administration.
The chairman of the forum, who also serves as the CEO of the Kano State Tourism Management Board, Tukur Bala, made the endorsement at a press briefing following a three-day retreat in Katsina.
He said, “We are behind you, go again in 2027.”
He said the governor had declared a state of emergency in education, which was starting to yield positive results.
Mr Bala said the government recruited about 9,000 teachers, settled their outstanding promotions, and enhanced their welfare. The government also provided the needed teaching and learning materials across its public schools.
“The result of this is that Kano State came first in the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO),” he said.
The chairman said Mr Yusuf inherited over N46 billion in workers’ gratuities but had so far settled N27 billion out of the amount.
He cited other achievements of the governor in the areas of urban renewal programme, adding that the governor had turned Kano into a construction site, as everyone could see.
According to him, he had provided solar-powered streetlights to strengthen security in the metropolitan areas.
Mr Bala revealed that the Tiga Dam (10 megawatts) and Challawa-goje Dam (six megawatts) hydroelectric power projects were in progress and had reached a certain level of completion.
He said the government completed the five-kilometre roads in all 44 local governments, which was initiated by the former governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya, Rabiu Musa-Kwankwaso, but abandoned in eight years.
“Governor Yusuf has now completed them and electrified them with solar power. We say thank you, sir,” he said.
The chairman further appreciated the governor for establishing the Neighbourhood Watch Corps and anti-phone-snatching team to strengthen the security of lives and property.
Mr Bala stated that the government was donating N50,000 as empowerment to each of the 36,400 women every month.
He further revealed that the government supported over 5,000 youth who graduated from skills acquisition centres with capital to set up businesses.
According to him, the government has renovated 40 general hospitals and several primary health centres across the state to improve the health of its people.
