Governor Atiku Bagudu has approved the deduction of three per cent of the basic salaries of civil servants for the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA).

This is contained in a statement by Bagudu’s media aide Yahaya Sarki on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.

The acting head of service, Safiyanu Garba-Bena, said the approval granted by the governor was sequel to the request made by the organised labour in Kebbi.

“The union resolved that deduction of three per cent of basic salaries of all civil servants in the state be remitted to the KECHEMA,” said the government. “The enrolment of civil servants in the scheme as a formal sector will enable the agency to provide access to healthcare for civil servants at an affordable rate.”

The deductions, the Kebbi government said, would take effect from November to enable the KECHEMA to begin providing services to civil servants.
