Herdsmen: Governor Masari to build N6 billion ranches in Katsina

Governor Aminu Masari’s government has sought the support and cooperation of the people of 10 frontline local government areas that will benefit from its cattle ranch development.
Ibrahim Kallah, the chief press secretary to Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
He said Mr Yakubu, represented by Lawal Bagiwa, the special adviser to Mr Masari on livestock and grazing reserves, made the request at the ranch development stakeholders’ meeting.
It added that the deputy governor said the call for support and cooperation was necessary to ensure hitch-free execution of projects across the local government areas.
He further mentioned that the Katsina government, through the support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime, intended to intervene by providing three ranches in Jibia and Batsari councils.
He also stated that four ranches would be provided in Dutsinma, Kurfi and Safana councils, while three others would be located at Danmusa, Kankara, Faskari, Sabuwa and Dandume local governments.
According to him, Mr Buhari’s regime released N6.25 billion to the Katsina government in 2021 for the ranches development in Ruma-Kujar-Jangarai grazing reserves and nearby communities.
He said the funds would be used to construct schools, health centres and veterinary clinics, among other things, in the benefiting communities.
The deputy governor explained that the effort was to end bandits’ attacks and farmers-herders violent conflicts in Katsina. The deputy governor added that the government would provide 14 buildings in each local council.
The local government areas include Jibia, Batsari, Dutsinma, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Faskari, Sabuwa, Dandume and Kurfi.
The statement assured that Mr Masari’s government would continue to protect lives and property.
