Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has declared his support for Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) who has of recent been on a quest to drive out criminal herdsmen from the southwest parts of Nigeria.

Ooni’s support comes on the heels of an apology tendered by Igboho following his earlier misspeak against the revered Yoruba traditional ruler.

Ooni said he has forgiven the Igboho.

Mr. Igboho had earlier said that the Ooni disappointed the Yoruba nation and subverted the course of their safety for personal financial interests during his visit to the president in Abuja, but recanted hours later pleading for forgiveness.

The Ooni through his press secretary, Mr. Moses Olafere has however affirmed that Mr. Igboho has been forgiven following his public apology.

“He (The Ooni) has forgiven him (Igboho) as he had tendered an apology via a video clip he produced via social media yesterday evening” Mr. Olafere said.

“Even though the way and manner, Sunday behaved was sacrilege to the Oduduwa throne but he has already apologised and I can confirm that Arole Oodua forgiven him, because, there is no perfection in humanity.

Sunday is a human being like a normal human being who could misbehave as well”. Mr. Olafere added.

Mr. Olafere further reiterated the support of the Ooni towards the Igboho’s activism, saying that the Ooni supports Sunday Igboho for what he described as the liberation of the Yorubas from criminal herdsmen.

He went on: “As the father of all, the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II remains his father who had even identified with him in the past two weeks he has begun with the struggle and he is still solidly behind him for the liberation of the Yorubas from criminal herdsmen who have adamantly terrorised our land.”
