The Health Sector Reform Foundation of Nigeria says it will unveil a two-volume book on non-communicable diseases on October 15 in Abuja, alongside free health screening for participants.

HERFON’s executive secretary, Celestine Okorie, announced this in a statement on Monday, saying the event would hold at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

He said the publication, ‘A Review of Non-Communicable Diseases in Nigeria’, was produced under the HERFON Health Review Series with support from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

Mr Okorie said the two-volume book featured contributions from more than 70 authors and contributors, examining common and emerging NCDs, their burden, prevention, management and control in Nigeria.

He said Limi Hospital, Abuja, would provide free health screening at the event to promote awareness of the importance of screening and early detection in preventing and managing NCDs.

According to him, the publication is part of HERFON’s efforts to promote evidence-based discussions and strengthen understanding of health challenges that require sustained attention from policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders.

The statement said Chijioke Kaduru, chairman of the Non-Communicable Diseases Foundation, Ngor Okpala, Imo, would feature at the event, while the Emir of Shonga, Haliru Yahaya, would chair the event.
