Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 10 civilians in separate operations conducted in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.

A statement on Thursday by Aliyu Danja, the military spokesman, said troops conducted a patrol in the Isa area of Sokoto and encountered a terrorist ambush on Wednesday.

He said the troops responded swiftly and decisively, forcing the terrorists to flee in disarray.

“During the encounter, 5 civilians were rescued and subsequently reunited with their families, while 2 motorcycles abandoned by the terrorists were recovered,” Mr Danja said.

In another operation on Tuesday, he said troops acting on intelligence regarding three kidnapped victims conducted a search and rescue operation in Danko Wasagu council area of Kebbi.

The spokesman added that troops responded swiftly to reported terrorist activities in the Tsafe LGA of Zamfara on Tuesday.

According to him, the troops’ rapid mobilisation compelled the terrorists to flee the area, abandoning two captives.

“The victims, who sustained gunshot wounds during their ordeal, were immediately evacuated to a medical facility for urgent treatment,” Mr Danja said.
