Hosts Wikki Tourists stun group leaders Lobi Stars

Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi on Wednesday beat visiting Lobi Stars of Makurdi 2-1 in a Match Day 8 fixture of the ongoing 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League.
In the match played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, the host team’s captain Idris Guda opened the scoring in the seventh minute.
Lobi Stars drew level through Abba Umar in the 34th minute, while Guda made it a brace for himself in the 38th minute to restore the hosts’ lead.
During the post-match conference, the technical manager of Lobi Stars, Baba Ganaru, said, “We had several goalscoring attempts and efforts, but WIkki Tourists were lucky to have the game ending 2-1 against my team. But it was a fantastic match for both teams, as they all played well.”
Abdullah Bura, WIkki Tourists’ head coach, said it was a good match, revealing their plan for the next match was to go get another point, adding that he intended to stabilise their performance before the second stanza.
Wikki Tourists FC are now eighth on the 10-club Group B log with eight points from eight matches.
