I implicated myself in child rape to sell upcoming song: Speed Darlington

Controversial Nigerian entertainer Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, admitted on Wednesday that his recent viral comments about defiling a minor were fabricated to stir controversy and promote his new song.
Darlington took to social media to address the backlash he received after claiming to have had sex with a15-year-old girl, a statement that sparked public outrage and drew the attention of government agencies.
He said, “All my followers pissed off about the video I recorded in which I spoke about me sleeping with a 15-year-old, I am an artist. I need controversy to eat. If you are not trending, you are not getting booked. Simple! Nobody is booking something that is not trending. I have a new song now. The song is talking about f#ck this, f#ck that. This is my genre. I do not perform Christian music. When I dropped my song, I needed f#ck contents to push it. That is what I was doing. Don’t give it more than it is supposed to have.
If any of you are offended, it’s alright. Apologies.”
Earlier, Mr Darlington trended on social media on Tuesday after sharing a video in which he appeared to mock hotel staff allegedly tasked with cleaning a blood-stained bedsheet, insinuating that it followed his defilement of a minor.
The video prompted swift reactions from both the state authorities.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA)issued a statement condemning the clip, noting that it had escalated the matter to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
