Ibadan boy arraigned for murder remanded in prison custody

The Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Monday, ordered the remand of Ibrahim Abiala, 19, in custody, who is standing trial over alleged murder.
The court ordered that Mr Abiala, whose address was not provided, should be held in the correctional centre.
The magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, who did not take the defendant’s plea for want of jurisdiction, directed the police to send the case file to the director of public prosecution for legal advice.
She thereafter adjourned the case until April 24 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 26, at 8:30 p.m., at the Aleshinloye market area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully caused the death of Musa Mohammadu by stabbing him in his back.
Mr Adegbenro said the offence contravened Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
