Ibadan driver arrested for stealing employer’s car

A 36-year-old driver, Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, on Wednesday appeared before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for stealing his employer’s car worth N1.5 million.
The defendant is standing trial on a charge of stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Kehinde Olarotimi, alleged that the defendant committed the offence on July 17 at the Gate area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant stole a Toyota Previa car worth N1.5 million, belonging to his employer, Pedro Itodo, without the employer’s consent.
Mr Olarotimi said the offence contravened the provisions of section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The magistrate, Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
Among other terms, she held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.
The court adjourned the case until August 17 for hearing.
