Ibadan teacher arrested for refusing to leave school after being sacked

A 58-year-old woman, Olubunmi Adebayo, was arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday for misconduct.
Ms Adebayo was charged with conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Olagoke Adegbenro, said the defendant committed the offence on June 23 at about 5:50 p.m. on the Smart School premises in Ido, Ibadan.
Mr Adegbenro alleged that the defendant, a part-time teacher at the school, was shouting and refusing to vacate the premises after the school sacked her.
He said the offence contravened Section 249(d) of the criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi, granted the defendant bail of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.
Mr Sanusi said that the surety must be a blood relation to the defendant and adjourned the case until July 14, for mention.
