Ibadan woman, 49, arraigned over alleged theft of items worth N1.5 million

A 49-year-old women, Olufunmilayo Akinbode, on Thursday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing items worth N1.5 million.
Akinbode, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of stealing, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Owolabi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 8, 2025 in Ibadan.
Mr Owolabi alleged that the defendant stole a plasma TV, a cell phone, a decoder, a gas cylinder, all valued at N1.5 million.
He said that the items belonged to the complainant, Adeyemi Adeoye.
Mr Owolabi said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Gladys Olanrewaju, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum.
Ms Olanrewaju said that the sureties must be related to the defendant and show evidence of tax payment to the Oyo State Government.
She adjourned the case until August 5 for mention.
